Oct 22, 2025 Honoring Cpl. Nathan Cirillo: The “Cirillo WOD” Tribute Workout

ree

On Wednesday night, 2347 Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps honoured one of their own — Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a former 2347 cadet and proud Argyll.

Cpl. Cirillo began his journey right here in Hamilton as an army cadet, parading in the same armoury where our cadets train today. He went on to serve with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment and was tragically killed in the line of duty while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa on October 22, 2014.

To honour his life and sacrifice, the cadets completed a special Hero Workout of the Day (WOD) — “The Cirillo” — during their physical training session. Each part of the workout carried meaning:

  • 24 minutes for his 24 years of life

  • 10 tuck jumps for the month of October

  • 22 air squats for the 22nd day

  • 14 burpees for the year 2014

This workout wasn’t just about fitness — it was about remembrance, discipline, and pride. Our cadets pushed through every repetition with determination, keeping Cpl. Cirillo’s memory and Argyll spirit alive.
